Dedoplistskaro: Otar Shamugia, the Georgian Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture visited Roni’s walnut processing unit. The unit is situated in Samtatskaro village in the Dedoplistskaro municipality.
During his visit the Minister inspected the walnut processing enterprise of “Roni” LLC, established in 2022 with the financial support of state agencies. The company “Roni” invested 3 million GEL to establish the enterprise. This includes 500,000 GEL as a grant from the Rural Development Agency and 1,200,000 GEL as an agro-credit.
According to Guram Nakashidze, the enterprise’s founder the processing unit is working at full capacity. At present the enterprise’s production capacity is 20-25 tons of dry walnuts per day.
At this stage the company sells its products in the domestic market. During this period of active work 20 local people were employed in the enterprise. The Georgian Government especially the Ministry of Agriculture, introduced many programs for allied activities related to agriculture.
The company “Roni” LLC is also a beneficiary of the state program “Plant the Future.” In 2017 the company planted a walnut garden on 17 hectares for which it received co-financing from the state in the amount of 86,900 GEL.
The main goal of the project “Plant the Future” was to productively use uncultivated land. Furthermore the move aimed to produce the maximum number of job opportunities and improve the socioeconomic conditions of the people living in these particular areas as well.
It should be noted that throughout Georgia, preferential agro-credit granted to create processing walnuts exceeds 29 million GEL. Out of this total amount more than 12 million GEL loans were issued in the Kakheti region. Moreover within the framework of the co-financing program for processing and storage enterprises 270 enterprises were co-financed with 126 million GEL throughout Georgia.
49 enterprises were co-financed with 23 million GEL in the Kakheti region alone. The minister appreciated his work during his interaction with the processing unit owner. The minister also stated that the ministry is planning to introduce more programs, which will help the agriculture community in multiple ways.
