Ozurgeti: Ozurgeti City Council recently held a meeting of its representatives. This was held to approve the financial assistance for the various projects across the different parts of the locality.
It is to be specifically mentioned that this will provide different financial aid to projects during the tenure of 2024 to 2027. Moreover the financial assistance will also be utilised for the sustainable goals that are required to fulfil the environment related needs of the projects as well.
As per the information many medium-term development documents (MDD) will be focused on local economic development. It outlines the vision, goals and objectives of the local government as well as the specific mechanisms for achieving them. All the representatives who participated in this meeting agreed that the stability of the local economy is very important.
All the participants also agreed that a stronger local economy can provide a large number of job opportunities for the local population.
The Sustainable Development Goals municipal document is fully based on United Nations resolutions, according to which 11 goals and 30 tasks were defined as municipal priorities. It is to be noted that with the rise of global temperature and climate change, the concept of sustainable development has become very vital.
The concept of sustainable development means to use natural resources only as required thus mitigating any harm to the the environment and natural resources of any kind.
The attendees of the meeting also expressed their willingness to initiate the development projects as soon as possible. It was also decided that maximum financial aid would be ensured to complete the development projects on a priority basis.The provisions for budgetary allocation to various departments were also discussed in detail.
First Deputy Mayor of Ozurgeti Giorgi Gurjumelidze thanked the members of the working group – public servants, expert Nino Loladze, representatives of civil society, government, and the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.
