Peace Award competition announced for young people

The Office of the Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of the Republic of Georgia has announced the annual “Peace Award” competition for young people. This competition aims to make the youth aware of their role in the peace process in Georgia.

It is to be mentioned explicitly that the competition aims to strengthen the role and involvement of young people in the peace process of Georgia  which is one of the critical priorities of the state policy of reconciliation and involvement coordinated by the office of the State Minister. The competition will include many categories which will include the following :

1. The best peace activity;
2. The best peace idea;
3. The best peace message

As per the available information, any young person aged 18 to 35  a group of young people  or a youth organization, including those from the occupied territories of Georgia  can participate in the competition by submitting applications.

Participation in the competition is possible both by direct application of a young person/group of young people/youth organization and by submitting an initiative group consisting of at least three people from the civil sector and international organizations. As a result of the competition  the winner in each nomination will be awarded a monetary award of 𝟑𝟎𝟎𝟎 GEL.

The recent violent clashes in the Georgia following the adoption of the foreign agents law have make it most important  to encurge the young people agains the adoption of the violent measures.

These violent protests caused a huge law and order problem across the country. Later, the police crackdown against the protestors was widely criticised by people from all corners of the world. The University used to hold such events to improve and enhance the creativity of the students in different fields from time to time.
