Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, held a meeting with Karin B. Sullivan, the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Mission to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Information Centre shared the snippets of the meeting on its Official Facebook Page. According to the details shared by the information centre, it should be noted that the meeting was held within the framework of the 42nd Independence Day celebrations on Monday, September 22, 2025.
The United States is a strong partner in enhancing the national security of the Federation in conjunction with narcotics trafficking across St. Kitts and Nevis and the broader eastern Caribbean region.
Dr. Drew noted that security remains one of the most important priorities for the country, as it is closely linked to the safety and well-being of its citizens, as well as the stability needed for economic growth.
He said the cooperation between the United States and St. Kitts and Nevis has a significant effect in securing the islands from those involved in criminal enterprises such as illegal narcotics trafficking.
Sullivan, on her side, restored the U.S. commitment to work with St. Kitts and Nevis on security issues. She praised the government for showing strong leadership and working to ensure the safety of the country’s borders and its people.
The meeting took place in the spirit of mutual respect and shared responsibility. They agreed on the significance of development cooperation, for which both sides appreciated the achievements already made through cooperation projects.
As the country marked its 42nd anniversary of independence, the Prime Minister engaged with a U.S. representative, which is also an indication that the federation’s friendship with foreign counterparts continues to grow and serve in a manner that fosters peace, security, and prosperity for the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
