Tbilisi: The Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, congratulated the newly appointed Israeli Ambassador, Hadas Meitzad on the successful Israeli parliamentary elections and hoped for continued close cooperation after the formation of Israel’s new government as they recently met on Thursday.
The sides talked about long-standing ties between the two countries and future priorities. Focus on tourism and the importance of fully embracing the potential of trade-economic relations.
He also noted the fruitful cooperation between sector ministries and parliaments of the two countries, including noting the fact that a number of important bilateral agreements had been signed between the countries in recent years.
The talk was about the fact that this year would mark 30 years of the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Israel.
Irakli Garibashvili wished success to Hada Meitsadi and confirmed his readiness for future cooperation.
The Georgia-Israeli relations have been formally established for the last thirty years, since 1992. The Georgian Embassy has been set up in Tel Aviv, and the Israel embassy is in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. As per the sources, at least 1,20,000 Georgian Jews reside in Israel.
The countries have also been supporting mutual bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism as well as cultural bonds through the chamber of commerce established in 1996.
