PM Kobakhidze holds Iftar ceremony in Tbilisi in honor of Muslim community

Georgia: The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze participated in the traditional Iftar ceremony (dinner) related to Ramadan Bayram, which was held in honor of the Muslim community of Georgia on behalf of the Georgian government on March 28, 2025, Friday.

The Georgian Prime Minister shared glimpses of the iftar ceremony on his official Facebook page. He also shared a small note along with the snippets of the event held in the capital Tbilisi in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.

“The Muslims living in the country have made significant contributions to the development and progress of Georgia,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during his speech at the Iftar held in honor of the Muslim community.

The Prime Minister stated, “We are proud that Georgia is a diverse, multi-ethnic, and multi-religious country, the Georgian government promotes the Muslim community as much as possible and this support will continue in the future.”

The head of government spoke about the contribution of the Muslim community to the development of the country.

Irakli Kobakhidze said, “We are proud to have a truly exemplary coexistence and together we are creating the future of our common country.” “The Georgian government is promoting the Muslim community to the maximum, especially after 2014 and this support will continue in the future,” he added.

According to the Georgian PM, over the past 10 years, more than 250 mosques have been given to the Muslim community for permanent use, and 35 million Gel was allocated from the government as financing and this is all an expression that the Georgian government gives great importance to the contribution of the Muslim community in the development of Georgia.

It is noteworthy that the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Affairs Zaza Vashakmadze, Mufti of West Georgia Adam Shantadze, Sheikh of Muslims of Georgia Faig Nabiye,v and Mufti of East Georgia Etibar Eminov addressed the Muslim community gathered for Iftar.

Notably, the Iftar ceremony in Tbilisi was held in honor of the Muslim community on behalf of the Prime Minister of Georgia was attended by the Minister of State Tea Akhvlediani, the Chairman of the Government of Adjara Autonomous Republic Tornike Rizhvadze, members of Parliament, State Trustees and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps.
