Georgia: The Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze visited the new, modern standards base of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’s special operations department.
Irakli Kobakhidze and Vakhtang Gomelaur inspected the newly built base infrastructure, employees’ working and living spaces, renovated car park, modern technology, equipment, and dining and gyms.
As the Prime Minister noted, the new infrastructure and equipment will help the Special Tasks Department carry out its operations.
The Prime Minister spoke about the Ministry of Internal Affairs’s role in protecting the country’s security and thanked law enforcers.
“We have inspected the new base, which belongs to the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Interior. This is a very important infrastructure, which, of course, will help the Special Tasks department to carry out its work. It is an extraordinary infrastructure in every way. Also, we have inspected the technology for the special” Department of Emergency Situations.
“Please be informed that the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are of the utmost importance in protecting the interests of our state, and in this regard, special importance is given to the activities of the Department of Special Tasks. I would like to thank the Department for its service to the country, and I thank every representative of this Department. He certainly depends on them greatly. “Protecting our state interests, and I want to congratulate everyone on opening this new base,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
Vakhtang Gomelaur said the new base was built according to modern standards and thoroughly adapted to department employees.
“The base of noted, high level and standards was built from scratch. This is the special forces base for the special forces department, which is part of this excellent Department.
The base area consists of accommodations, a gym, dining, and two-person accommodations, which have never existed anywhere before; they are designed for each member of the special forces.
Classrooms were set up, and new equipment, including water pumps, was purchased. The previous government purchased cars a long time ago, and we added and renewed them. The special forces’ weapons have been renewed, said Vakhtang Gomelaur.
The new base of the Special Tasks Department is located on 20,000 square meters. It comprises a 150-person three-story barracks equipped with modern inventory and work rooms.
Police and weapons spaces were also set up on the base’s territory. A dining room and a gym, equipped with state-of-the-art sports equipment, training machines, and showers, were also installed.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Interior’s top priorities include upgrading the police infrastructure and improving the working conditions of law enforcers.
In the past years, the weapons of the Special Task Force Department have been fully renovated, and new, modern standards bases for department employees are being built in different regions.
