Georgia: Min. of Education, Science and Youth signs MoU with CESCO

The Georgian Ministry of Education, Science and Youth has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the CESCO (Central Election Commission) of the country. This was signed to enhance mutual cooperation for the successful holding of elections in the country.

The significant memorandum document was signed by Giorgi Amilakhvar Minister of Education, Science and Youth, and Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairman of the Central Election Commission during a brief ceremony.

The Georgian minister Giorgi Amilakhvar on the occasion of the signing ceremony stated that “ One of the main priorities of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia is to promote the successful holding of elections in the country, which is essential for the implementation of good governance”.

“To make the progress in this direction the Ministry has continued to work more actively with the Central Election Commission to support the implementation of innovative technologies, raising awareness of the youth and providing infrastructure as well” added minister.

 

Giorgi Amilakhvar furher said , “ We would like to remind everyone that it is important to ensure that international standards hold elections to promote the growth of civil responsibility among citizens, especially young people. Moreover under the various provisions of this memorandum of understanding both sides will implement joint projects that will focus on spreading the latest information and raising awareness among the public and the voters for fair and transparent elections”.

On the other hand the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Giorgi Kalandarishvili also reasserted the commission’s commitment to holding impartial elections throughout the country. It is worth mentioning that the commission is taking a special initiative for the fair election inn country. It has also held meetings with the representatives of the media houses.

At that two-day meeting chairman of the Central Election Commission Giorgi Kalandarishvili apprised the participants about electronic voting technology and the role of media in spreading awareness among voters to elect their representatives without any pressure from any side.
