Kakha Kakhishvili attends a USAID event

Kakha Kakhishvili, the Chairman of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee of the Parliament of Georgia attended a USAID presentation event. This was an event of USAID that was dedicated to the importance of local self-government in the country.

At this presentation many new partners of the USAID Local Self-Government Program participated and he also summarised the progress achieved with the municipalities.

Kakha Kakhishvili while addressing the participants of the event talked about the importance of decentralisation. According to Kakha Kakhishvili the promotion of the decentralisation process should be done by strengthening the institutional capacity as well as by increasing the quality of coordination and cooperation between the interested parties across all parts of the country.

Notably the main purpose of the event was to introduce new partners to the various activities of USAID and sign memoranda of understanding with them. Moreover within the framework of the conference a memorandum of cooperation was officially signed with several municipalities of Georgia as well.

Meanwhile at the event the mayors and chairman of the new partner municipalities also had an opportunity to address the audience and share their expectations for the partnership.

Merab Kvaraya the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee attended the event. Representatives of the central and local authorities involved in Georgia’s decentralization process also attended.

Similarly representatives of the international development institutions, civil society organizations, and decentralization experts participated in the event.

The key speaker of the presentation expressed a similar view about the decentralisation process. According to them the process of decentralisation will be very effective for implementing policies regarding local self-government.

Similarly strong and stable local bodies can also provide world-class civic amenities to the residents of the locality. USAID is an international agency providing assistance for many projects across the country as well. The USAID frequently organised many event relating to different areas of general importance.
