Georgia: Ruling Georgian Dream party to hold rally in support of transparency bill

Amid the large-scale protests against the newly introduced “foreign influence law” the ruling party planned to hold a rally to support the bill. The ruling party( Georgian Dream) will hold this rally on next Monday.

Amid the large-scale protests against the newly introduced “foreign influence law” the ruling party planned to hold a rally to support the bill. The ruling party( Georgian Dream) will hold this rally on next Monday.

This will be held outside the Parliament building in Tbilisi next Monday under slogan “to say yes to transparency. In an official statement the party stated that the opposition parties were misleading the public by spreading lies about the bill. The statement further said that the bill is under the discussion process, but opposition parties are misleading the people for their vested interest.

The party statement further said that the Georgian public is mature enough to understand the conspiracy of the opposition parties. Moreover today the approval rating of the Georgian Dream party exceeds 60 percent while the only opposition party that manages to cross the [five percent] election threshold only has a 12 percent approval rating”.

 

The party called the fellow citizens to reject dark money funding for a revolution in Georgia. People were also advised to reject the opposition parties for their attacks on the Orthodox Church, political intervention with religious motives, LGBT propaganda, drug propaganda, discrediting of state institutions, radicalism, and the so-called polarisation of the domestic political environment together.

Moreover the party statement said “We cannot allow the opposition to spread rumor and play the role of spoiler when the bill is still under the consideration process. We will show the Georgian people are with us to bring stability to the nation, these are the people who stand for national values and integrity. In the last statement added “Let us say no to dark money and say yes to transparency for the better future of the country.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the first reading was supported by 83 MPs in the 150-member lawmaking body. The supporters of the Georgian Dream welcome the decision of the party leadership to hold this rally which will make the picture clear in the coming days.
