Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia addressed the 4th Crimea Platform Summit on September 11. During her video address the president reiterated the country’s support for Ukraine.
It was exciting to see that the President makes a comparison of Russia’s attack on Ukraine with the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in the United States of America.
In her address she underlined that “Toady 23 year has been completed of the attack on the world trade center in USA. Many people were killed who were Innocent and did not commit anything wrong. This time again terrorism is killing innocent people. However this time this is happening in the heart of Europe.”
The president also stated that even in the toughest times there should not be any threat to freedom, human values, human dignity, sovereignty, independence and democracy.
It is worth noting that at the same address the President also focused her attention on the fact that “The attack by Russia is not just military action. This is killing innocent people who have been struck between both sides of the conflict. The world needs to understand that if Russia is not stopped, it will become a big threat to the other countries of the region sooner or later.
While appreciating the courage and will to fight Ukraine’s armed forces and people, she termed Georgia’s counteraction an act of “heroism” and “inspiration.” As per her with quick action Ukraine also proved the myth of Russia’s invincibility wrong.
According to the President restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity is crucial to securing permanent peace and Russia must accept this reality without any further delay. While slamming Russia’s actions the President said that Russia has a long history of attacking other countries to redraw the border lines but this behavior cannot be accepted for a long time.
In her address the President mentioned that the Black Sea route is an important link between Europe and other parts of the world. We need to protect its stability which is very important for the security of the entire continent and Russian expansionists cannot be tolerated without any check.
