Tbilisi: Salome Zourabichvili, the President of Georgiav attended a farewell-cum-swearing ceremony for Georgian athletes. These athletes will participate in the Paris Olympics 2024, scheduled to begin on July 26.
The president on the occasion added “ For all of us sports has become one of the important aspect of unity. It brings us together and provides us the opportunity to share the joy which we need very much. I am sure that when you will return, it will also be a moment of great joy.”
In the beginning the President welcomes all the representatives of the national team who are going to France to represent Georgia. She also expressed confidence that the members of the Georgian contingent will make the country proud with their performance at the World leval event in Paris.
The president while appreciating the sportsperson said, “You are the role model for the youth of this country and we desperately need your wonderful performances. You are an example of attitude, dedication, professionalism, and an example that we should never stop if we want to rise to a higher level.
She also said that the country is making great progress in the field of sports and the performances of Georgian players in many international events have proved this fact.
While encouraging the players to perform at their best the president said, “When you will come back with a lot of medals, I would be happy to invite you to the presidential palace. This year the number of athletes may be fewer but depending on the quality, I am sure that there will be no drop in medals. We wish you great success and wish that you return to us with this great success to make us happy and proud.”
The Olympic games are scheduled to be held from July 26 with the opening ceremony and will end on August 11. However, some competitions will begin on July 24. Paris will be the main host city although the event will also be organized in sixteen other cities.
