Tbilisi: The Georgian prosecutor’s office has booked three people for forgery. These people include one foreigner and two Georgian citizens. According to the information these people acquired a large amount of money by creating false documents.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Finance conducted the investigation in this regard. According to the investigation carried out by the investigative service the defendants purchased 2710000 square meters of land with illegal money. They also prepared documents in foreign languages such as power of attorney and some others.
The defendants submitted false documents to the public registry to reshape the plot of land for one of the criminal group members. However due to the immediate and effective response of the law enforcement authorities they were unable to complete the intention and got caught.
They have been charged according to the strictest provisions of the law and if found guilty they can be sentenced to up to 9 years of imprisonment. All three defendants were imprisoned as a preventive measure at the request of law enforcement agencies.
The investigation in the investigative service of the Ministry of Finance continues with the aim of identifying and exposing other members of the criminal group. Law enforcement agencies are making many efforts to mitigate the crime rate.
In recent times transnational crime has become one of the biggest problems. The involvement of Georgian criminal gangs with the accused from different countries has made the crackdown difficult.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has been proactive in its efforts to tackle the increasing crime rate involving international gangs, taking several initiatives to address the issue. The office of the Prosecution Services has booked many persons in recent times who were involved in the international crime rackets.
The official told that more steps will be taken to detect the innterantional crime at earlier stages to avoid the financial loss to any citizen of country.
