Daily COVID Updates: Georgia reports 3,840 new cases, 32 deaths

The health authorities of Georgia said that the nation had reported 3,840 new cases of COVID-19, with 4,692 recoveries and 32 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks in Georgia stands at 24.39 per cent.

The health authorities of Georgia said that the nation had reported 3,840 new cases of COVID-19, with 4,692 recoveries and 32 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks in Georgia stands at 24.39 per cent.

Overall, there are currently 82,046 active cases of Coronavirus throughout the country.

Moreover, as per the figures given by the health ministry, a total of 20,075 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 14,438 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 5,637 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,616,159 cases of Coronavirus. Out of 1,616,159 cases of COVID-19, a total of 1,517,856 patients have recovered, while 16,231 people have succumbed to it.

The new 3,840 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 1,743 cases 
  • Adjara – 167 cases 
  • Imereti – 446 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli – 192 cases 
  • Shida Kartli – 256 cases 
  • Guria – 153 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 296 cases 
  • Kakheti – 390 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 94 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 63 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 40 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for about 85% of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Furthermore, there are currently 3,424 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Georgia, while 78,622 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors.

Besides this, 772 people infected with COVID-19 are in critical condition, out of which 247 people are on artificial ventilation.

A total of 1,351,019 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,247,387 people have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43 per cent of the country’s adult population, and 223,654 have received booster shots of the vaccine. 

As of today, around 33.6% of the total population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which accounts for 12.5L of people. As of now, around 29L doses of vaccine has been given.
