According to Tamar Ioseliani, the Greek side noted with satisfaction that Georgia has successfully coped with the process of reforming the field of maritime education, which was reflected in the quality of the country’s maritime education and training system. The achievements in the field of sailors’ training were especially noted.

“The supply of skilled personnel has been significantly increased in recent years, and we are pleased that this process has a sustainable, stable nature, which gives us the expectation of even more successful cooperation,” said George Pateras at the meeting.

Greek companies are one of the largest employers of Georgian sailors. They have quite close ties with our country and also express a desire to further deepen cooperation.

“A very successful and fruitful meeting took place with the President of the Greek Navy and his team. The Greek side asked us to increase the supply of officers to the Greek shipowners. “It is gratifying that Georgia’s achievements in the maritime field do not go unnoticed by our foreign partners,” Tamar Ioseliani said.

Given the Covid-Pandemic and the current crisis situation in the Black Sea region, the importance of Georgia’s transit function and, in general, the role of the country’s maritime transport sector for the region was stressed. The parties agreed to visit Georgia and strengthen future cooperation in the field of employment of Georgian sailors.
