The Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, inaugurated the 14th International Wine and Spirits Exhibition WinExpo Georgia 2022 with a welcome speech.
“I am glad that after the pause caused by the pandemic, I have the opportunity to greet the representatives of the wine industry and fans of the field for the first time within the framework of the largest exhibition of wine and spirits in the Caucasus region, as well as the wine industry. I think such exhibitions and events are the best platforms for wine promotion, where interested companies, importers and entrepreneurs have the opportunity to establish business contacts. Wine is a part of Georgian culture and history. Therefore, it is important for us to produce quality wine,” said Otar Shamugia.
In his welcoming speech, the Minister also spoke about the Wine Promotion Program, which helps companies finance marketing expenses, and highlighted the importance of the Vineyard Cadastre Program.
Resan Kikava, the director of the exhibition centre “Expo Georgia,” addressed the public.
It should be noted that in 2022, compared to previous years, the number of participants in the exhibition will have increased significantly. WinExpo Georgia 2022 is attended by about 200 companies (family wineries, medium and large enterprises, bio wine and pitcher wine producers, suppliers of wine technologies, packaging materials, accessories and services). The exhibition has international participants from Italy, Turkey and Germany.
As part of the exhibition, there will be a Wine Export Forum – WinExport FORUM, which aims to meet entrepreneurs and wine importers, discuss various export markets and give advice to entrepreneurs. Regarding the internal market challenges, there will be a panel discussion with local traders, representatives of the HoReCa sector and wine shops. Importers from Japan, the Netherlands and Poland are invited to the forum.
This year, for the first time, within the framework of the exhibition WinExpo Georgia, joint competition of the Sommelier Association and Exhibition Center “Expo Georgia” is held – SOMMELIER CHOICE (“Sommelier’s Choice”), which will reveal the best wine among the wines presented at the exhibition. The jury of the competition consists of sommelier members of the Georgian Sommelier Association, whose daily activities are evaluating wines, compiling and managing a wine card, and presenting them to guests in the HoReCa sector.
As part of the exhibition, a team of marketers, designers and other experts will evaluate the branding of WinExpo Georgia 2022 companies and their products and present a special award to the selected company – MARKETERS CHOICE.
