Georgia: The Tbilisi City Hall’s Environmental Protection Service, in the Vake district, on Paliashvili Street, Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Square, the so-called Rehabilitation of Gegeshidze garden has started.
The Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze got acquainted with the ongoing works together with the Chairman of the City Council, Giorgi Tkemaladze, Deputy Andria Basilaya, and Vake District Governor Davit Kvinikadze.
“We have started the renovation and rehabilitation of Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Square (the so-called Gegeshidze Garden). The situation was dire, the existing infrastructure was destroyed in every way, and there were no green models. Within the framework of the project, everything will be arranged. New parking infrastructure will be placed. Also, the lighting network will be changed; the irrigation system will be arranged. A “burger bar” was operating in this area, which we will take over and more space will appear in the garden.
According to the mentioned project, the monument of Konstantine Gamsakhurdia will be renovated”, said Kakha Kaladze.
According to him, the main infrastructural works will be completed in September of this year.
“As for the monument and the panel, it will take some time. In the end, another beautiful space will be added to the capital city”, said the mayor of Tbilisi.
As part of the rehabilitation, footpaths will be renewed in the area, parking equipment of modern style will be placed, outdoor lighting system, children’s playground and video surveillance system will be arranged.
All the necessary measures for greening will be carried out in the models: an irrigation system will be arranged, a mixture of fertile soil will be added to the territory, grass will be sown and various types of green plants will be planted.
In addition, a fountain will be added, and most importantly, the existing cafe-bar area will be returned to the square, thereby increasing the amount of green cover. The cost of construction works is 500,000 GEL.
