Tbilisi: The Representatives of the central and local authorities today laid a wreath at the grave of Archil Tatunashvili in capital. He was brutally killed by Russian occupied forces in year 2018.
On this special occasion the Mukhatgverdi Brothers Cemetery was visited by Gocha Kavtaradze, deputy State Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Dimitri Zurabishvili, Mayor of Mtskheta Municipality Gela Shermadini and Governor of Akhalgori Municipality.
At the same time Zviad Zviadadze, Head of the Department for the Issues of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, the Former South Ossetian Autonomous Region of the Office of the state minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality were also present to remember departed soul.
Archil Tatunashvili’s memory was honoured and his family members were once again offered condolences by the head of the Provisional Administration of South Ossetia, Tamaz Bestaev, Deputy Director of the Information and Analytical Department of the State Security Service, Irakli Antadze and other representatives of local self-government.
While extending his condolences Gocha Kavtaradze, deputy State Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti underlined “Archil Tatunashvili’s self-sacrifice, steadfastness and patriotism are exemplary for each of us. He chose to defend the honour of his homeland over his own life and became a hero of our time. We honour his bright memory and bow our heads to him”.
He also said that his sacrifice is although a big loss to family, however her sacrifice will be remembered forever by all Georgian. He is not only source of inspiration for present generation but will remain immortal hero for future generations. The countryman can learn to develop a true love for country and can get motivate for sacrifice for national interest as well.
This was a brutal murder committed by Russian occupied forces. There was more than 100 injury marks over his dead body. Moreover many internal organs were missed from his body which shows how he was tortured by occupied forces.
Georgian government is taking all necessary step to prevent any such tragic incident in future.
