Georgia: As part of the Days of Georgian Culture, the Royal Library of Denmark hosted the presentation of the first Danish translation of Shota Rustaveli’s “Vepkhistkaosani” aphorisms on September 27. This was accompanied by a masterclass of Giorgi Sisauri’s calligraphy art.

The event was attended by Koba Khubunaia, Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia, the Embassy of Georgia in the Kingdom of Denmark, representatives of the Georgian Diaspora, and European guests.

The Georgian Ambassador led the presentation to the Kingdom of Denmark and Iceland, Nata Menabde.

The event earned great interest and appreciation for Georgian history and culture.

As you may recall, Georgian Culture Days are being held from September 24 to October 3, with the initiative and organization of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and the support of the Embassy of Georgia in Denmark, Copenhagen. The program includes Georgian traditional songs and dances, visual and theatre performance arts, and the art of cinema.

Within the program of events, in the following days, guests will see a performance of Nodar Dumbadze’s Young Audience Theater—William Shakespeare’s “Otelo”—and a three-day retrospective of Georgian cinema.

The festival’s guests have already seen a concert of the Georgian folk song ensemble “Basiani” and the Kutaisi Song and Dance State Academic Ensemble in “Det-Ni Theater” and a lecture-masterclass of the Georgian Folk Song Ensemble “Basiani” held at St. Anne’s School-Gymnasium in Copenhagen.

Days of Georgian Culture will help deepen the cultural relationship between the two countries, introducing Georgian culture and traditions to European people and Georgians living there.

Reminder: From May 4 to August 20, 2023, the Georgian Ministry of Culture promoted and cooperated with the Louisiana Museum in Denmark to hold an exhibition of works by Niko Firosmanashvili at the Louisiana Museum of Contemporary Art. The interested society saw 48 works by Pirosmani.

This was the first and historic occasion when Firosmani’s work was presented on such a large scale in one of Europe’s most prestigious museums. Louisiana Museum Director Paul Eric Toyner said the fireman’s exhibit saw 260,000 visitors, which exceeded everyone’s expectations.
