Moscow: Russia has once again issued a warning about the possibility of nuclear disaster at the Moscow-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russia has continued to shell the eastern city of Kharkiv and alleging Ukraine to endanger Europe’s largest nuclear plant in the south of the country. The blame game between the nations has been persisting since then.
Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of the Russian National Security Council, has blamed the Ukrainian Military for threatening the nuclear plants with arms and weapons they had acquired from the United States.
“If there is a disaster, the consequences will be felt in all corners of the world. Washington, London and their stooges will bear the responsibility,” said Nikolai at the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
In a telephone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin and French counterpart Emmanuel Macron agreed on having the ground situations assessed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Kremlin has assured further assistance from Moscow on the matter.
Earlier, Georgia, along with the member countries of the European Union (EU), had urged the Russian withdrawal from the Ukrainian Nuclear Plant. The EU had stated the safety reasons, and any kind of military action in the region of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is a direct violation of International Law and the UN Charter. Not only this, any kind of military act poses a major threat to nuclear safety principles.
However, Russia has so far rejected international appeals and calls for having its troops withdrawn from the site of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant and has warned of the possible nuclear hazards in the future.
