Georgia: The State Representative of Kvemo Kartli, Giorgi Dokhturishvili, together with the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili and the Mayor of Rustavi Nino Latsabidze, participated in an educational training program “Environmental and Agrarian Education at School”.
During the program, the delegates met with the teachers throughout Kvemo Kartli who successfully completed the educational training program. Furthermore, as part of the event, teachers were awarded with supporting textbooks to help them in their lectures and certificates to appreciate their participation.
Moreover, a supporting textbook for teachers “Environmental and Agrarian Education at School” was prepared at the Environmental Information and Education Center. The textbook covers important issues of environmental and agricultural education that are easily adaptable for primary school students (grades I-VI).
It is to be noted that both Kvemo Kartli and Mayor of Rustavi Nino Latsabidze, shared details and glimpses from the educational training program on their official Facebook accounts on 5 April, 2025.
Mayor Nino Latsabidze stated in her post that environmental protection and ecology are very important topics for Rustavi. She further added that the Law on Environmental Responsibility and the projects are implemented with the support of the Georgian Government and Parliament and have brought significant positive changes, but it is necessary to raise awareness for the society, especially young people to engage in environmental projects.
Issues Covered Under this Program
Within the framework of the program, young people received basic knowledge on important issues such as sustainable development, biodiversity protection, water resources protection, air protection from pollution, climate change and natural hazard reduction, waste management, land management and combating desertification, sustainable agriculture, food safety and quality.
Empowering Educators for a Better Future
The Environmental Information and Education Center has been implementing the program “Environmental and Agricultural Education at School” for primary school teachers throughout Georgia since 2021. As of now, 571 teachers have been trained in the Kvemo Kartli region. In addition, the process of retraining primary school teachers is actively underway throughout Georgia.
