An award ceremony for successful athletes and coaches was held at the Rustavi Sports Palace, in the space of the Educational Sports Museum on 19 March, 2025.
The ceremony was attended by State Representative of Kvemo Kartli, Giorgi Dokhturishvili; Minister of Sports of Georgia, Shalva Gogoladze; Mayor of Rustavi, Nino Latsabidze and Member of Parliament, Delegate of the Historical Villages of Rustavi and Gardabani, Irakli Shatakishvili.
The Members of the Rustavi City Council faction “Georgian Dream”, Rustavi athletes and coaches were all present at the award ceremony.
The delegates congratulated the Rustavi athletes and their coaches on their successes at international and local competitions last year in which they delivered outstanding performances and brought honours to their nation.
Key speakers at the ceremony shared some motivational words, encouraging the athletes and coaches to continue to represent their nation with their hard work.
It is to be noted that 21 athletes, 7 teams and coaches from various sports were awarded a special award and cash prize from the Rustavi City Hall for their exceptional achievements in 2024 at the award ceremony. Since 2021, the amount of the scholarship has increased by 125%.
Furthermore, Badri Bebia, an employee of the Sports Development Center, was awarded for his special contribution to the development of Rustavi sports.
Last year, Rustavi athletes won gold, silver and bronze medals at about 400 international and intercity tournaments.
Moreover, the Rustavi City Hall also provides successful athletes with a special scholarship, in order to increase the interest of young people in sports and encourage them to achieve their goal with full potential.
