Philip J Pierre the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia congratulated the Windward Island women’s team. The team has recently recorded a victory in the women’s T20 tournament.
Prime Minister Philip J Pierre also took to his social media handles and shared his happiness over this historic moment.
PM Philip J Pierre wrote in a Facebook post that “Congratulations team Saint Lucia on your victory at the Windward Islands women’s t20 tournament. You are now the champions of not just t20 but also the Super 50 cricket tournament won earlier this month”.
“As we countdown to our 45th anniversary of independence, you have added another color to our celebrations, and we are proud of you all! congratulations once again on your victory” the PM added.
At the same time, social media users also commented on the post shared by the Prime Minister and congratulated the team. One social media user Margaret Rambally, commented that “So proud of you all. These women took care of their business”.
Similarly another user Norman Edward , while commenting wrote that “wow, you’ve represented Lucia with pride. Congratulations to players, coaches, and management”.
Romanus Melius while commenting added further that “Congratulations to our women for their hard work and effort”.
On the other hand the “Windward Cricket” also extended their best wishes to the team for victory. They stated on their Facebook page “Congratulations Saint Lucia!!! you the St. Lucians have done the double and won both the super 50 and t20 segments of this year’s championship”.
It further stated that “It was a tournament of excellence with both bat and ball. Saint Lucia has demonstrated levels of determination, character, and perseverance to which no other team could compare, well done”.
“Cricket Saint Lucia” stated that “St Lucian ladies have pulled off the double victory, winning both the Super 50 and the t20 at this year’s windward islands women’s tournament. Congratulations to the team!”.
It also mentioned that “it is to be noted that this is the first time any team has pulled off this feat, well done St Lucia”.
