Davit Bakhtadze the Mayor of the Samtredia municipality held an audit meeting. During this meeting mayor apprised the attendees of planned and implemented works across Samtredia in 2023.
Speaking on the occasion David Bakhtadze said “Accountability to the community is one of the leading goals of the local government. The positive feedback from today’s meeting is a great encouragement for us for future activities. Each project is considered for a better future for our population”.
It was added that in 2023 in Samtredia an amount of 17275578 GEL was allocated within the Municipal Development Fund, Regional Development Fund, Local Budget, Pilot Region Development Fund, Rural Support Program, etc.
With the help of the local budget, 79 projects were financed with an amount of 7490425 GEL. Moreover, 64 projects have been completed and the other 15 projects are underway.
The other facilities which will include are the Sports fields, waiting rooms, recreation areas, multi-story apartments, and drainage channels and will be financed within the local budget.
The mayor further stated that one of the priority issues of Samtredia Municipality is to implement a healthy lifestyle for the people of the locality for which sports infrastructure is actively being arranged.
Notably the Samtredia municipality was named as the best municipality of the Imereti region for 2023. At the same time for the development of Olympic sports complex, expansion and restoration of sports infrastructure funds are being utilised.
Throughout the municipality, sports courts are being arranged and built, including tennis courts, where championships in this type of sport are held often.
The mayor also said that a swimming pool according to modern standards was opened in Samtredia on the territory of the sports complex. The project was completed within the framework of the European Union’s UN Development Program initiative “Mayors for Economic Growth” (M4EG) and is co-financed by the local administration of the municipality.
About the education sector mayor said that the construction of new public schools is underway in the administrative units of Nabakevi and Tolebi. Similarly with the help of the Municipal Development Fund a complete rehabilitation has been carried out for the 12th public school with the status of an immovable cultural heritage. The rehabilitation works are underway in the first public school and the rehabilitation of the 9th public school will begin soon.
The mayor speaking further on the occasion said that under the “Integrated Development Program of Pilot Regions” a kindergarten corresponding to modern standards was built in the administrative unit of Yaneti. Construction of the 4th kindergarten is planned and will be completed soon in future as well.
