Iveta Megrelishvili the Head of Virology Laboratory inn Georgia has become a role model for the women of Georgia. She has proved her abilities while working hard and achieved success as one of the best agri scientists of the country.
It is to be specifically mentioned that Iveta Megrelishvili after completing her PhD in Biochemistry continued her research activities. Her main field of research activity was plant pathologies. Since the year of 2014 she has been working in the Department of Integrated Plant Protection of the Agricultural Research Center.
Speaking on her field of work she stated “Research with the team is important to prevent diseases, prevent their spread, and produce healthy, non-virus translucent material”. Moreover with the use of modern laboratory methods, for the first time in Georgia, several plant viral, bacterial, and phytoplasmic diseases were identified and researched.
She further added “I would like to say with pride that I am constantly sharing the results with Georgian and foreign colleagues on local and international scientific platforms at the same time we are familiar with the latest information related to modern research. Currently I am involved in a project which is being financed by the European Union where 250 scientists from 33 countries participate”.
Notably Iveta Megrelishvili together with Georgian and foreign colleagues is the author of several scientific papers published in high-rating magazines. In agriculture the scientific and research center plays an important link in terms of using scientific advances in science and practice. The research findings are important to local farmers in raising awareness and improving agricultural produce.
She motivates others to work hard and achieve success overcoming all obstacles of life “ I advise young people interested in agricultural sciences to work hard to achieve their goals and never lose motivation stay up-to-date with the news and follow the advice of experienced specialists. It’s important to stay focused on moving forward don’t lose energy and enthusiasm and most importantly believe in your abilities”.
