Georgia: A seminar was held for the study group of Shalva Khetsuriani’s “Somelie School” in Jighaura on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. The session aimed to provide participants with deeper insight into vineyard science and modern cultivation practices.

Based on the Science and Research Center of Agriculture, a thematic theoretical-practical seminar was held for Shalva Khetsuriani’s “Somelie School” study group. The seminar was led by the center director, Levan Ujmajuridze.
Levan Ujmajuridze spoke about the importance of the ampelographic collection in Jighaura and introduced the participants to the activities of the center in the direction of protection and preservation of unique genetic resources and their research.
The conversation touched upon the practice of studying grape varieties, evaluating their adaptation, and applying innovative approaches, which the Center has been implementing during its many-year research activities. Levan Ujmajuridze emphasized the role of the Agricultural Scientific and Research Center in the field of both vineyard and plant genetic resources research and implementation of innovative technologies.
The practical part of the seminar was about the main stages of vineyard cultivation – determination of physical characteristics of soil, planning principles, and the critical importance of seedling selection. Special attention was placed on the use of certified fertilizer materials, which are essential for the health and stable development of the vineyard.
During the practical demonstration in the vineyard, the participants learned about the principles of green operations, the basic approaches of grape formation, and modern technologies of agrotechnical work.
The seminar was an important opportunity for the study group in terms of deepening practical knowledge and strengthening cooperation with the scientific field.
