The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, discussed important issues going on in the region at the government meeting on February 27, 2026, Friday.
The Prime Minister congratulated the members of the elderly choreographic ensemble “Roots” of the Shuakhevi Cultural Center for receiving state awards of Georgia and noted that this recognition is important for the region, especially for the municipality of Shuakhevi.
Sulkhan Tamazashvili spoke about current trends in tourism and said that according to the summarized statistical data for 2025, positive dynamics are fixed in Adjara.
According to the fourth quarter of 2025, the number of foreign visitors, compared to the previous year, has increased by about 10%. It should be noted that in 2025, up to 5 million visits were made in Adjara, which is an increase of about 4% compared to last year’s data. This number includes both domestic and foreign visitors. The mentioned indicators once again reveal the region’s growing tourist potential in all four seasons,” said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the dismantling works in Batumi Boulevard and noted that, as a result, the appearance of the city will be significantly improved.
“Dismantling of unauthorized and unused objects is intensively carried out for the purpose of improving the boulevard.” Also, a new concept for the boulevard is being developed, and I am actively involved in the process. All this makes the boulevard a modern and neat space. In addition to the boulevard, unauthorized objects are being actively demolished in the city and region, including self-built fences, self-contained kiosks, and catering facilities. All of this will contribute firstly to turning this process into a legal framework, and on the other hand to improving the appearance of the city,” said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.
The chairman of the Adjara Government also emphasized the importance of renewing Batumi and Kobuleti municipal car parks. 18 new buses have been added to municipalities within the framework of the project. Sulkhan Tamazashvili noted that work in this direction will continue actively and will gradually improve public transport in the region.
According to his own information, the improvement of school infrastructure is actively underway. At this stage, 9 public schools are being constructed, and 15 schools are being rehabilitated from the Adjara republican budget.
Recently, the complete rehabilitation of the public school in the village of Erge in Khelvachauri municipality was completed. According to Sulkhan Tamazashvili, the government continues to work towards the welfare of the population and the development of the region.
