Georgia: The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, presented the report of activities for the year 2024-2025 to the High Council. Notably, the report detailed the projects implemented, ongoing, and planned in the region, priority directions, and strategic development vision.
The Prime Minister noted in his speech that in 2025, Adjara will have double-digit economic growth, which is the result of targeted policies and a stable environment implemented in the region.
Tourism promotion is priority: Sulkhan Tamazashvili
Sulkhan Tamazashvili emphasized the promotion of tourism development and the priority of the field. Tourist infrastructure projects are being implemented in all municipalities of Adjara, and road and communal infrastructure are being improved. Construction of a water supply and sewerage system is actively underway in high-altitude Adjara, and large-scale investments are being carried out in the resort Goderdzi.
Also, the first stage of the construction of the “City of Dreams” was completed, with which 582 families were satisfied with apartments, and in the second stage, an additional 1077 apartments will be built. In 2025, 30 public schools will be built in Adjara and 70 schools will be rehabilitated.
Furthermore, it is to be added that the Youth Centres have a special role in Youth Development, which ensures the active involvement of youth in various educational and vocational programs.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports of Adjara will be separated into a separate ministry in 2025. The main goal of the new ministry is to preserve and develop the unique culture of the region. In 2025, the Ministry plans to hold more than 350 cultural events, involving more than 4000 people.
Sulkhan Tamazashvili also spoke about the availability of healthcare services. The budget for health care and social protection has increased significantly in 2024-2025. Also, the budget for 2025 has been increased by 19.2 million GEL and will amount to 80.5 million GEL.
The government’s goal is to strengthen programs supporting agriculture in 2025 and to properly appreciate the work of local farmers.
Up to 4 million GEL subsidies were given to promote the realization of citrus in 2024 In total, up to 12 000 tons of industrial mandarin were subsidized and 19 million dollars of products were exported.
According to Sulkhan Tamazashvili, 2025 will be an important stage for progress and development, in which the government will respond to the needs and challenges of the population with policies adapted to the needs of the population.
