Georgia’s Labor, health, and Social Protection Ministry has provided fully renovated flats for displaced families. The Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze attended the event to hand over the symbolic possession to 65 families displaced families in Tbilisi.
All the new residential buildings built according to modern standards and have been equipped with the latest updated facilities. The Minister of Labor, Health and Social Protection of IDPs from the occupied territories gave them the keys of new flats.
Mikheil Sarjveladze, during the key giving ceremony, also addressed the members of displaced families. He congratulated the families on their new home and emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to creating decent living conditions for the IDPs.
He also announced plans to establish more such facilities in the near future, reassuring the audience of the government’s continued efforts for welfare of displaced families.
The minister inspected the new apartments with the families and became acquainted with their living conditions. In the building located on Viktor Kupradze Street in Tbilisi, the Agency for Providing IDPs, Eco-Migrants and Livelihood Sources purchased apartments from a private construction company to resettle internally displaced families.
On this occasion, Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze was accompanied by many other officials and representatives of the local and central governments. Some include the chairman of the Government of Abkhazia, Levan Mgaloblishvili and the Deputy Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection, Giorgi Tsagareishvil.
Similarly, Zurab Utiashvili Director of the Agency for IDPs, Ecomigrants, and Livelihood Provision, representatives of the construction company, and other guests were also present.
In order to provide housing for displaced families, residential complexes are being constructed in five cities of the country. Of the total number of buildings, 11 are being built in Tbilisi, where apartment will be given to 2,400 families, according to the official information provided.
The Ministry of Health also shared glimpses of the event on its social media handles. Social media users appreciated the initiative the ministry is taking in the direction of social welfare.
