Georgia: With the support of the Georgian Ministry of Culture and Sports, the 10th anniversary season of the Tbilisi Baroque Festival was opened with the concert “Venetian Baroque,” in which Italian virtuoso cellist David Amadio and the Georgian Sinfonietta participated.
The opening ceremony took place on November 1, at 19:30, and on November 21, the Jansug Kakhidze Music and Cultural Center will host a concert, ‘Georgian and European Sacred Music,’ with Italian opera singers Cristina Fanelli (soprano) and Bendetta Mazzucato (contralto) performing works by Bach and Zelenka.
Minister of Culture and Sports Tinatin Rukhadze, Italian Ambassador to Georgia Massimiliano D’Antuono, and other guests attended the festival’s opening.
The Tbilisi Baroque Festival, which is held every year, was founded in 2015 with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia. Due to its anniversary date, the festival offers a special season—eight concerts, masterclasses, and three public lectures will be held. Concerts will be held on the small stage of Rustaveli National Theater and in the Music and Cultural Center named after Jansugh Kakhidze.
Other Georgian performers and groups, as well as world-renowned stars, are participating in the Tbilisi Baroque Festival with the Georgian Sinfonietta.
Concerts will be held on the small stage of Rustaveli Theater: “Venetian Baroque,” “Baroque for Children,” “French Baroque” (solo harps music), “Bach Dynasty,” “Friends – Teleman and Pashi,” “Heavenly Voice” by Andrea Scholl.
The Tbilisi Music-Cultural Center, named after Jansugh Kakhidze, will host the festival’s traditional concert, “Georgian and European Church Music.” Jordi Savali will end the anniversary season on the small stage of Rustaveli Theater with “Baroque concerts and folios.”
The event is organized by the Georgian Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra—”Georgian Sinfonietta,” Tbilisi City Hall, the French Institute, and the Italian and German embassies. It will be held from November 1 to December 11.
