Tbilisi:Â The city court of the Georgian Capital Tbilisi has sentenced one person for the murder of his ex-wife. The court has sentenced the accused to eighteen years in murders.
The prosecution office has produced information and evidence in this regard to ensure the strictest punishment. Notably based on the evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office, the accused was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the murder of his ex-wife under aggravating circumstances.
It is to be noted that the Tbilisi City Court has fully accepted the evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office and found the accused guilty of the murder of his ex-wife under aggravating circumstances. The court also commented that this is a serious crime and the accused needs to be punished with strict punishment.
The evidence examined by the court during the trial proved that on June 4 of the year 2023 in the settlement of Kukii of the capital city of Tbilisi the accused strangled his ex-wife with a rope and cited intolerance based on gender.
It is also to be added that in order to cover the tracks of his crime he placed the corpse in the trunk of a car and moved it further to the territory of the Gldani district and threw it into a ravine. In this way he tries to remove the evidence of murder.
Meanwhile the law enforcement officers arrested the person who committed the crime on June 6. He was charged under Article 11 Prima 109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia subsections “h” and “k” (intentional murder committed on the basis of gender against a family member).
The Tbilisi City Court found the accused fully guilty of the charge and sentenced him to 18 years in prison. Meanwhile the prosecutor’s office said that they would appeal the court’s decision to increase the punishment.
