The capital of Georgia, Tbilisi is all set to welcome international visitors as city is hosting UN World Tourism Day for the first time.This year the event will be held from 27 to 29 September under the theme “Tourism and Peace.”
The UN World Tourism Day is an annual event held in different countries every year. This year Tbilisi is selected to commemorate the day. As per the statement issued by the Ministry of Economy of Georgia ,The event will highlight the important theme of Tourism and Peace.
The city will welcome government officials from many countries. Moreover representatives and officials associated with tourism sector will be in the city to discuss the significance of the tourism sector.
On this occasion the experts will discuss the emerging trends in the international tourism market that have the potential to dominate the market in the future. As the theme includes the word “Peace” the discussion will further explore measures for ensuring peace which is necessary to promote global tourism.
Mariam Kvrivishvili, Georgia’s economy minister said “We are feeling proud as the country is all set to host UN World Tourism Day for the first time. This is a great opportunity to promote Georgia’s tourist places globally. The event will witness the presence of high-ranking delegations, including 25 ministers from different countries as well as media representatives.”
As per the minister, Georgia will be at the center of this world-level festival, which can boost the country’s tourism sector. Notably last year the 38 members of the European Commission of the World Trade Organization selected Tbilisi for World Tourism Day 2024. Tourism is a major source of income in Georgia.
The PM of Georgia himself acknowledged the role of tourism in the growth of the economy. The national tourism agency of Georgia as well as many other departments of country are working round the clock to attract international tourists.
