Tbilisi: Three charged for attack on police and loss to property

The Prosecutor General of Georgia have charged three persons for attack on policemen and causing huge destruction to public property.

The Prosecutor General of Georgia have charged three persons for attack on policemen. They are also guilty of causing huge destruction to public property during ongoing protest in capital Tbilisi.

This vital information was shared by Prosecutor General of Georgia on Tuesday. The prosecutor general while sharing details in this regard said that other guilty are being identified who caused physical harm to policemen. At the same time action have been initiated against all who damage public property under various provision of Georgia’s criminal code.

It is worth to note that in ongoing protest against the ruling regime in Georgia. They are protesting decision of Government to suspend European Union’s integration process of Georgia until 2028.

As per the statement of Prosecutor of Georgia, one of arrested person has been arrested as he threw a firework at member of special task force. This was very shocking attack and caused serious burn on leg of victim policemen.

At the same time second defendant cause physical damage to property. He set on  fire the  monitoring system of Parliament. This surveillance system was already installed on the facade of the Parliament complex to prevent any untoward incident by anti-social elements.

According to the officials this surveillance system is part of the Emergency Management Centre of country. Similarly, the third accused is guilty to set on ablaze room of building of national parliament which  destroyed all important documents inside this room of Parliament.

It is worth to note that all three accused were arrested by law enforcement officers on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Different provisions of Georgian criminal code have been imposed against them.

One among them is charged under Part 1 of Article 353 (e) prima of the Criminal Code of Georgia. This section covers offence of assaulting a police officer in connection with the official activity of a police officer. Moreover, on proving guilty accused can be sentenced from 4 to 7 years.

Another two accused have been charged with part 2 of Article 187. All of them have been put under preventative custody.
