Tbilisi to Host International Conference on Emigration & Literature

NotTbilisi, Georgia: The Institute of Georgian Literature has recently reported its undertaking of an international conference on Emigration and Literary Discourse in Tbilisi, scheduled for September 29 – 30, 2025. The conference will open on September 29th at 11 AM.

This conference is organized by the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature with its partners, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University as well as the Georgian Association of Comparative Literature (GACL).

Additionally, it is noted that the deadline for the submission of abstracts in English and Georgian is June 25, 2025, paying particular regard to the proficiency of the English language. Submissions should be sent to rustaveliconferenc@gmail.com .

The guiding principles include writing abstracts containing 5 provided keywords, no more than 250 words total, typed in Sylfaen in size 10 and single-spaced.

Furthermore, the conference organizing committee will select the papers through anonymous peer review. Feedback from the peer reviews will be shared on July 5th, 2025. Moreover, the accepted papers will be published as articles in the international scientific journal “Sjani.”

  • Caucasian Emigration to Europe in the 1920s-30s; Section Chairmen: Professor Gaga Lomidze, Professor Rahila Geibulaeva (Azerbaijan)
  • Emigrant Writers and Cultural-Literary Connections in the Context of Different Eras (including Modern); Section Chairmen: F. M. D. Darejan Menabde, Ph.D. Miranda Tkeshelashvili
  • Mikhako Tsereteli’s Activities in Emigration; Section Chairmen: Assoc. Prof. Ekaterine Navrozashvili, Assoc. Prof. Nino Samsonia.

Registration Fees for the international conference

Notably, the registration fees will be 120 GEL for speakers with a paper, 160 GEL for  speakers with co-authorship, 80 GEL for active members of the Georgian Comparative Literature Association (GCLA), and for students (master’s, doctoral).
