Georgia: The Office of the Minister of State organized a high-level event on the International Day of Peace under the theme “Youth for a Better Future.” The event was addressed by the Minister of State, Tea Akhvlediani.
The event was opened with a welcome speech, and the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, and the Minister of State, Tea Akhvlediani, addressed the audience.
Minister of State Tea Akhvlediani said, “Celebrating the International Peace Day with the Youth has made it a tradition to, once again, sing together a strong message of the importance of peacekeeping, reconciliation, and uniting our people for building a strong, united state whose core values are human dignity and welfare, their rights and security. I sincerely congratulate the winners of the Peace Prize this year.”
During the event, Tea Akhvlediani awarded the winners of the annual competition “Peace Award for Youth” organized by the Office of the Minister of State.
The winner of each nomination was awarded a prize established by the Minister of State for 3000 GEL. In addition, with the support and direct involvement of the Council of Europe, the victorious young people in Strasbourg will participate in the World Forum for Democracy.
The event dedicated to the Day of Peace was attended by representatives of the Georgian Parliament, state, government agencies, and local authorities, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Georgia, as well as representatives of civil society, academic circles, and young people.
“Peace Award for Youth” was established by the Office of the Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia in 2021 and will be awarded annually to a young person or a group of young people, including those from the occupied territories, who, by the objectives and objectives of the peaceful resolution policy of the Government of Georgia, by their activity and act Vobi have a unique contribution to peacebuilding and war-breaking.
