The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani held a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia, Carl Hartzel.
During the meeting, Tea Akhvlediani thanked the Ambassador for his strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders of the European Union.
The State Minister stressed the special role of the European Union and the importance of active involvement in the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Georgia.
Moreover, Tea Akhvlediani briefed Carl Hartzel on the process of strategic review of the state policy on reconciliation and engagement and updated priorities and visions for the future, which was the main goal of the meeting.
The parties agreed to continue close cooperation within the framework of the strategic review, as well as on other topical issues.
At this crucial stage of Georgia’s integration into the European Union, the State Minister stressed the historical importance of giving a European perspective and expressed confidence in the candidate’s status in the near future, in line with the country’s progress towards European integration.
“The main purpose of my meeting today with the EU Ambassador was to get acquainted with the updated priorities and visions in the process of strategic review of the State Policy for Involvement and Reconciliation for further discussion and wide public discussion. As you know, the EU has a special role to play in the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Georgia, including in the process of restoring trust between members of a society divided by war. That is why it is very important to continue intensive cooperation with our strategic partners in close coordination, “- said Tea Akhvlediani.
