Georgia: Carl Hartzel, the head of the European Union Delegation to Georgia, is expected to present its views on the Associated Trio countries of Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova on granting the EU membership candidate status next month.
As Carl Hartzel told reporters, in the process of filling out the EU questionnaire, it is not speed that is important, but the quality of the answers and an objective assessment plays a significant role.
“I am honoured to receive answers from the Georgian Premier on our questionnaire. I am sure that the second part of the answers to this questionnaire will be provided soon. I would like to note that the deadlines were well met. As for the process itself, I would like to note that it takes time, and the key here is not the speed, but the quality of the answers and the objective assessment that the European Commission will make will be based on the situation “on the ground”. “It will probably be presented next month,” Hartzel said.

Georgia applied for EU membership on March 3, and the EU membership questionnaire was handed over to Georgia on April 11.
The questionnaire is an official document used by the EU in the country assessment process. A candidate country may be sent thousands of questions that require complex answers. The EU Questionnaire involves questions regarding human rights situation in the country, reforms, education, culture, agriculture and many other areas.
Moreover, the Government of Georgia and “all relevant state agencies” continue to work “intensively” to complete the second part of the questionnaire, which includes 33 chapters and up to 2300 questions, the Government Administration has said.
The Georgian Government wants to deliver the second part of the questionnaire to the EU ahead of the scheduled deadline of May 13.
