Teimuraz Janjalia, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister visit to Ireland continues. He holds many bilateral meetings with many high officials of Ireland.

During his visit, he met Brian Flynn, Deputy Director of the Political Department of the Irish Foreign Affairs Ministry and discussed bilateral relations on 6 December. Both sides stressed the importance of implementing the past decision taken during the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Doriashvili’s visit to Ireland.

Both sides agreed that the implementation of that decision would help and highlight new perspective directions for cooperation. Leaders also drew attention on the importance of regular political consultations among foreign ministries of Both Countries.

Notably, in the Irish legislature joint meeting, which was attended by the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Charlie Flanagan, representatives of the Peer Group and another committee, parliamentary cooperation was underlined as the cornerstone of bilateral relations.

Teimuraz Janjalia, during his address expressed satisfaction with the Irish Parliament’s practice of passing pro-Georgia resolutions and expressed hope that this trend will continue in the future for healthy diplomatic relations.

The bilateral meeting of Teimuraz Janjalia also focused attention on the security environment in the region, which has been sharply aggravated after Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine.
Teimuraz Janjalia explained to the Irish side detailed information about the situation of the occupied territories of Georgia. He further highlighted the need for a consolidated position of partners to keep the issue on the international agenda. He said that in this regard, the importance of Ireland’s unwavering is very necessary.

During his visit, Minster Teimuraz Janjalia made a public statement before the European Union Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Ireland.

He introduced to the participants many complex events carried out by the country, as a result of which, in November, the European Commission issued a positive recommendation on granting candidate status to Georgia.

Teimuraz Janjalia also expressed hopes that in December, European leaders will make another historic decision and will unite Georgia’s more closely to the united family of European democratic countries. He also called Ireland for unconditional support for Georgia’s integration into the European Union.

At the end of the meeting, both the sides expressed hopes that more initiative will be taken in future to boost the bilateral relation.
