Georgia’s Minister of Culture, Thea Tsulukiani recently met with Tbilisi women’s choir members. She received information about the projects the Ministry and choir are executing with mutual cooperation.
During her meeting Thea Tsulukiani also heard about their performance. She thanked Omar Burdul head of the Tbilisi women’s Choir for the fruitful cooperation towards the ministry and wished the team success in their future activities.
The Tbilisi women’s team had no rehearsal space for many years. So to overcome this problem in 2021 on the initiative of the Minister of Culture, Thea Tsulukiani the team was allocated space for rehearsal in the assembly hall of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.
However after the start of the renovation work of the assembly hall the rehearsal space of the Tbilisi Women’s Choir was moved to the Union of Composers of Georgia building at the request of the Ministry.
It is essential that the Tbilisi women’s choir has won many cultural and musical events. They also won the “Promotion of classical music concerts and ballet performances in Tbilisi and regions” competition for 2022-23. The choir held many successful projects and concerts in Tbilisi and the regions.
Tbilisi women choir was established in 2013 under the name “Tbilisi Girls’ Team.” The head of the team is Omar Burduli who is assistant professor of Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory.
Thirty women sing in the choir and it includes both professional and amateur musicians representing various professions. Every year the choir holds solo concerts in selected concert halls of Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia. To date the total number of concerts held by the choir exceeds 120.
The choir’s repertoire is diverse including excellent works of Georgian composers as well as masterpieces of world choral music. Over the last ten years the choir has won many important awards and titles at local and international choral music festivals and competitions. The Tbilisi women choir has repeatedly presented itself to listeners and viewers on radio and TV.
