The Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Thea Tsulukiani, met with the French Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul Malak, in Paris.
The meeting was attended by Georgian Emergency and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to France Gocha Javakhishvili.
Thea Tsulukiani and Rima Abdul Malak discussed cultural heritage protection, museum and festival spheres, and art education development and plans for cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting focused on the education and professional training required to preserve and protect museum and cultural heritage.
It is essential that the Ministry is interested in training, training or training young cadres for restoration, architecture, and cultural heritage preservation in France.
The French Minister of Culture expressed readiness, and action in this field will be taken next year.
At the meeting, the Minister of Culture noted that the large-scale exhibition of Georgian painter Niko Firosmann has successfully travelled to Europe, Denmark, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, and currently, Niko Firosmani’s works are hosted in Switzerland, the Bayler Foundation. The exposition will continue until January 28, 2024.
The talk touched on the festival dedicated to Georgian culture, “Europe-Georgia”, where the European community attends two scale and historical exhibitions of the national treasure – “Avant-garde in Georgia – 1900-1936” and “Georgia – Meeting Place”.
The French side expressed interest and willingness to visit Georgia, familiarize themselves with museums and hold joint exhibitions in France.
The conversation also touched upon the successful work, plans and prospects in the Leville homeland. Tea Tsulukiani noted that Levili’s Georgian land hosted the Georgian Art and Culture Festival for the first time this year, in which Georgian teams, ensembles and theatres participated.
The minister said that the festival will be held yearly to promote Georgian culture in France. Also, the Ministry expresses its readiness to host Georgian and French artists in Levili’s homeland within the framework of an internship program and implement joint projects.
The French Minister of Culture confirmed his support to the Georgian Minister of Culture and expressed his readiness to support Georgia again actively.
At the end of the meeting, both sides said they were ready to cooperate closely and plan more joint cultural events in Georgia and France. The Minister of Culture Tea Tsulukiani invited the French Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak to Georgia on a return visit.
