Georgia: The Minister of Culture of Georgia, Tinatin Rukhadze, inspected the rehabilitation works of Ivane Javakhishvili’s House-Museum in the village of Khovle, in the municipality of Kaspi.
Full rehabilitation of the museum, supported by the Ministry of Culture, is carried out by the National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage.
Construction of the reinforced concrete tape foundation for the Visitor Center, and cracking, reinforcing, molding systems, and pouring concrete for the two auxiliary sheds in the courtyard of the Museum. In the interior space of the house-museum, the old drainage was removed from the floor and walls, and the stone and brick arrangement was restored with the solution of Kirdughabi.
Despite a number of reconstructions carried out in the XX century, the house-museum has not been rehabilitated yet.
As a result of rehabilitation
- The facade and interior space of the building will be completely restored.
- A new roof will be installed.
- Reconstruction of the accident wall of the East will be carried out.
- The cellar will be restored, and the Visitor Service Center will be set up.
- The territory of the house-museum will be fully adapted for people with disabilities.
“It is a joy that, in connection with the 150th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili, his house-museum is being restored in Khovle. With this decision, we express our gratitude to the great scientist and preserve the rich heritage of future generations. At the same time, the restoration of the house-museum will contribute to the increase in the number of visitors in the region,” Tinatin Rukhadze said.
Along with the minister, rehabilitation works were inspected: State Commissioner in Shida Kartli area Simon Guledan, Mayor of Kaspi Municipality Vakhtang Maisuradze, and General Director of National Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage Thea Oniani.
