Prepare for an Adventurous journey that’s not for the faint-hearted. This trail is a true test of your hiking skills, with several river crossings that will leave you wet and exhilarated. It’s a challenge that only the most daring hikers can conquer.

It also includes a long distance. The individuals must have good hiking shoes and walking poles.

They will also be crossing a simple suspension bridge. If the visitors are afraid of heights, it may not be a tour for them.

The tour will start on Sunday, 12 May, 2024. The tour will be one day; the distance will be 130 km. The tour’s difficulty will be moderate to challenging, depending on the traveller’s fitness level.

The visitors should reach Samaia Garden, Tbilisi, at 9:00 A.M. and return around 6:00 P.M., depending on the group’s speed and traffic. The price of the tour is 120 GEL per person.

Trail description: The trail starts with a flat section leading through a forest and green meadows. After the first few kilometers, the trail gently climbs toward the ruins of a medieval monastery. It then descends along a mountain path to the Kavtura River. The last section of the hike includes crossing the river several times. The individuals will get wet. They recommend wearing hiking boots and bringing walking poles.

Itinerary:

They will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head to the Didgori Battle Memorial, dedicated to one of Georgia’s most important and famous battles.

From Didgori, They will drive off-road to Sakurtkhisi village and start our hike. Our trail begins at the elevation of 1737m.a.s.l. and is mostly downhill. Good hiking shoes/boots and trekking poles are required to minimize the impact on the body and decrease the probability of falls and mishaps. The hike starts on an open field with a fantastic view of the mountains. It then continues to a small monastic complex containing ruins of an old medieval monastery and eventually descends into a gorge covered with an impressive, ancient forest.

Very few hikers visit Tavkavta, so the trail is untouched and covered with foliage. It follows a swift, crystal-clear river, which we will cross twice (bring sandals!). Once travelers cross the river, they will reach a scenic picnic spot next to a small waterfall pool where they can swim. Later, they will take a short walk (15 min) to meet our vehicle. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.
