Tbilisi, Georgia: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted the second meeting of the 2025 sessions of the international scientific CERN/IPPOG masterclasses on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Tbilisi State University (TSU) shared the snippets of the second meeting on its official Facebook page on the same day. TSU also shared some details of the meeting along with photographs of the meeting.
According to the details shared by the University, it should be noted that the goal of the masterclasses is to promote science, innovation, and technology, attract younger generations, and increase interest in fundamental research.
Notably, during the workshop conducted using the CERN method, adolescents, together with foreign peers, had the opportunity to present and evaluate their skills.
It is worth mentioning that Kakhaber Cheishvili, the Deputy Rector of the University, and Marina Lomour, the Head of the Children’s University, started the educational master class for students from various schools in Tbilisi.
Every year, masterclasses organized by CERN/IPPOG take place in Georgia as part of a collaboration involving the Georgian Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and the International Information Group of Particle Physics (IPPOG). The project is carried out with funding from the Ministry.
It is worth noting that the cooperation between Georgia and CERN/IPPOG started in 2020, and from 2019 Georgia is a full member of the IPPOG collaboration.
