Kyiv: The intense action raged at the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson occupied by Russia as the troops pressed counter-offensives in various directions. The Kherson region around the Black sea, along with its capital, have been taken over by Moscow’s military, as the Russian invasion began six months ago.
The Russian strikes over Kharkiv on Tuesday killed at least five. The individuals have been directed to stay indoors since the incident. The Ukrainian troops have moved ahead with a counter-offensive approach. Kyiv has been claiming that Russian troops have started to retreat as Ukrainian troops decided to retaliate.
The president’s office in Kyiv updated that heavy fighting has been going on in the entire territory of the Kherson region. “Powerful explosions continued throughout the day and throughout the night”, and “the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched offensive actions in various directions,” it added.
The defence ministry of Britain stated that several Brigades of Ukrainian armed forces increased the weight of artillery fires in front line sectors across southern Ukraine. However, Russia has made every possible effort to reinforce troops on the western bank of the Dnipro River that splits Kherson city.
The extent of Ukrainian advances is unknown and cannot be confirmed at the instance, said the ministry. The Russian shelling in Kharkiv had killed at least five and many were wounded, said Igor Terekhov. The residents have been, therefore, advised to stay indoors for safety reasons.
Kherson is known to be the first major city to fall after Russia invaded Ukraine in February. Ukraine’s southern command said the situation remained ‘tense’ in its area of operations.
