The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) office in Georgia has provided special training to specialists from Mandaturi office. These specialists belong to the Inclusive and Special Education Support Center of the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions of Mandaturi.
At the same time of the training session  they were provided with proper guidance to upgrade their professional skills. These skills will help them deal with children with special educational needs. It was part of the Education Support System and its psycho-educational services project for children. Moreover it will cover psycho-educational assessment and counselling to understand the needs of these children with special needs.
UNICEF has successfully coordinated with Georgia’s Ministry of Education, Science and Youth and Mandaturi Office. This collaboration will help enhance the quality of learning and skill-based education for every child. Sofio Abulashvili the chief of the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions  attended the training session.
Sofio Abulashvili thanked UNICEF and added, “I have full confidence that this session will be a great opportunity for our employees. This will help them to further their professional growth.”Under mutual cooperation  UNICEF will support the Mandaturi Office for the next year  helping to stabilize their efforts for an Inclusive Education Support System.
It is worth noting that many significant amendments to the Law on General Education were implemented in June this year. The provisons under the amendment will help special children in multiple ways in Georgia. In addition the new reforms under the new education Support reform were part of a partnership initiative. This partnership agreement has been executed between the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, UNICEF and the Norwegian government.
According to the experts  this program will help the attendees to create an inclusive and equitable environment in educational institutions across the Georgia. This  in turn  will directly benefit children with special needs.
