The University of Georgia has signed with the Austrain Blockchain Centre. This agreement will provide a joint platform for research activities in both scientific and joint projects.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the Austrian Blockchain Centre is the largest blockchain center in Austria founded by 5 leading Austrian Universities and works on the implementation of blockchain technologies as well as practical research experiences.
The University of Georgia was represented by the delegation in Austria by Rector Konstantine Topuria, Head of the Information Department Sulkhan Sulkhanishvili, and Head of the Rector’s Office Tinatin Endeladze.
It is worth noting that associate professor of the University of Georgia Nata Sturua is a leading researcher of the Austrian Blockchain Centre and ensures the involvement of the University of Georgia in the activities of the same research center.
There are several bilateral projects were discussed during the visit with the ultimate goal of developing a joint master’s program in blockchain Technology as well.
University took to their social media pages and provided information in this regard as well. The university stated in a Facebook post “We are proud to inform you that a memorandum of cooperation between the University of Georgia and the Austrian Blockchain Center has been signed. The memorandum aims to carry out various research activities, both in the direction of scientific and joint projects”.
It is to be specifically mentioned that Blockchain technology is a database system that is used to store the data in blocks that are connected in the form of a chain.
Blockchain technology is being used on a large scale nowadays. This is also used in the functioning of digital currencies such as cryptocurrency and Bitcoin.The agreement is there to boost the cooperation among both sides so that a maximum number of projects related to research can be executed.
The Reactor of the University of Georgia expresses his happiness over signing the agreement. According to him this will make the University’s students more confident for research-related projects as well.
