MIA Border Police Chief Hosts US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

Georgia: The Chief of Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Major General Nikoloz Sharadze, met with Catherine Insley, Second Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Security, and the Export Control and Border Security Program (EXBS) at the Poti base of the Georgian Border Police.

Georgia: The Chief of Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Major General Nikoloz Sharadze, met with Catherine Insley, Second Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Security, and the Export Control and Border Security Program (EXBS) at the Poti base of the Georgian Border Police.

The main purpose of the visit was to get familiarised with the activities and opportunities of the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as to discuss issues of future cooperation.

The Chief of the Border Police, Major General Nikoloz Sharadze thanked the members of the delegation for the successful cooperation, inspected the infrastructure at the Poti base of the Coast Guard, as well as the activities of the Coast Guard and the Joint Management Center for Maritime Operations (JMOC).

The sides discussed ongoing joint projects and plans for future cooperation with the Border Police.



During the visit, the guests also visited the Joint Naval Operations Management Center (JMOC).

Shota Mirotadze, Head of the Joint Management Center for Maritime Operations, Captain II, provided detailed information about the activities of the Center.
