Tbilisi: Mzia Amaghlobeli, a Georgian journalist has got huge support from various organisation. The representative of press and human rights organisation while spearheading their movement called on Government to release her immediately.
Mzia Amaghlobeli, who is one of renowned journalist of country is also the director of Batumelebi/Netgazeti. The member this this group has issued a joint statement in this regard as well.
The statement while condemning state action strongly added, “This arrest is direct attack on the freedom of independent media and will stifle independent media voices. The government should honour rights of citizens without any discrimination as well”.
They further said that this arrest is proof that government has launched a crackdown against the media. This is responsibility of every organisation across the country to unite and take action against this suppressive action of state and its authorities.
It is worth to note that Mzia Amaghlobeli who was arrested initially on administrative ground was arrested again. The authorities alleged that she provoke people for nationwide strike.
Although she was released after being arrested on administrative ground, but was arrested again on criminal charges. She was also blamed for posting sticker regarding nationwide strike.

Beside abovementioned names many other organizations were also signatories to this statement demanding release of journalist.
This is also worth mentioning that the this arrested was just received opposition from within country but also from many counties across world. The European countries expressed their displeasure of this treatment to member of media house.
The sources familiar with the matter also added Amaghlobeli has begun hunger strike against this illogical , unethical action of police and Georgian authorities.
