Georgia: The Health Ministry of Georgia said that the country has reported 745 new cases of COVID-19, with 19,984 recoveries and eight fatalities from May 2 to May 8. The positivity rate from May 2 to May 8 stands at 0.66 per cent.
The Omicron BA2 strain is predominantly circulating and dominant.
According to the government decision, coronavirus infection and death statistics are announced once a week, every Tuesday.
Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,655,966 cases of Coronavirus. Out of which, 1638,372 patients have recovered, while 16,821 people have succumbed to it.
The new 754 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country.

- Imereti – 79 cases
- Kvemo Kartli – 60 cases
- Shida Kartli – 51 cases
- Guria – 54 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 41 cases
- Kakheti – 26 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 20 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti – 6 cases
As of today, around 34.1% of the population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated, accounting for 12.6 L individuals. The country has administered approximately 29.7 L doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines.
Coronavirus can spread through an infected person’s mouth or nose in the form of tiny liquid droplets when they sneeze, cough, speak, sing or breathe.
