Georgia: In the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, road-cutting works are underway from the 58th km of the Zhinvali-Bariakho-Shatili highway to the village of Roshka of Khevsureti, through Arkhoti pass to the village of Amgha, and on an 18-km section from the village of Akhieli to the village of Chimgha.
There was no motorway to reach villages until now. Within the project, in total, up to 36 km of motorway will be cut and rehabilitated, from which 28 km of a brand new road will be cut.
The 11 km road cutting works were completed in 2023 and this year the road will be cut to the village Amgh, and the project will be completed in 2025.
“The most important project is underway on the Barisakho Roshka-Arkoti Amgha-Chimgha internal state road. Cutting-rehabilitation of an 11 km section of a 36 km road has already been completed. The rehabilitation of up to 6 km of road and cutting of 18 km of new road is actively underway, ” announced the Georgian Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, after his visit to the road access to Khevsureti villages.
“The construction of a road covered with the ground is considered, but the road is widened so that travel on it is not only comfortable but also safe,” mentioned Irakli Karseladze.
At this stage, the works of cutting the land, bringing it to road points, constructing artificial garbage – crossings, and building bridges are underway. The new motorway will be ground, where necessary work for road safety will be carried out. This comprehensive process involves various technical aspects and is being executed with utmost precision and care.
The project is implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Regional Development, the works are financed by 26 million Gel from the state budget
